Bug Description

The treesheets package https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/treesheets/ is ancient (from 2011) when TreeSheets was still free but closed source. It went open source in 2013 and is available here: https://github.com/aardappel/treesheets

It should ideally be using the github version.

My developer page (in MyApps) doesn't give me access to the above page however, I have no idea who owns it, so I can't make changes.

There is already this:

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/treesheets
http://ubuntu-mirror.telesys.org.ua/ubuntu/pool/universe/t/treesheets/

So I'm guessing it's a matter of replacing the old closed source version with these (and future updates).

The Debian package is also in Ubuntu since Wily.

While it is installable from https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/treesheets/ (even though 15.10 doesn't show up on "available version", it still installs), searching for "treesheets" directly in the Ubuntu Software Center fails, and neither can it be found from search in Ubuntu after being installed.

I guess it only works from a terminal.. which is odd for a GUI app. Maybe this can be fixed.

At this point in time, I doubt the Ubuntu Software Center will be fixed. It has numerous problems, and it’s going to be retired from the Xenial release. Many people use Synaptic or AppGrid instead.

Does the application include a .desktop file [1] ? I couldn’t find any in the package’s contents.

Though this problem is fixed in 15.10, users on 14.04 still get offered the old closed source version from 2011 when they search from treesheets. It be great if this old version could simply be removed. I know 16.X is around the corner and you may not care for the Ubuntu Software Center, but there's a lot of 14.04 users out there.
