No fonts after wake up from sleep

Bug Description

When waking up from sleep (either called through pm-hibernate or occasionally also pm-suspend), there are not fonts at all anymore. This won't happen every time but more like every third or fourth time. Yet, it practically means that sleep can not be used. I don't quite know how to narrow this down any further.

I'm using xubuntu 15.04 and pm-utils 1.4.1.-15. I don't start the xfce desktop but run a plain x-session with i3 as window manager. The attached screen shot shows i3 with an open terminal that would contain quite a bit of text if rendered correctly.

Sorry for the noise: downgrading libfreetype6 to 2.5.2-2ubuntu3 fixed the issue for me. Hope that helps.

Sorry for the late reply, I just added the apport data. Downgrading libfreetype6 as suggested by Arnaud doesn't work for me. The problem persists although
apt-cache show libfreetype6 shows package version 2.5.2-2ubuntu3 (rather than the most recent version 2.5.2-2ubuntu3.1).

Unless you do this when apport-collect'ing, your doing so provides useless information.

Ingo Fr, as per http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS-ZENBOOK-UX305FA/HelpDesk_download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (210). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Christoph, thank you for your help so far and for the helpful pointers to the ubuntu help pages.
Unfortunately, the ASUS website does not provide the new BIOS directly but only indirectly in the form of a windows installer. I sent them an email asking for the BIOS separately. However, I doubt that this would solve the problem. I experience the exact same problem on a different computer at work (a Thinkpad T450S) which is also running xubuntu. I'll try updating the BIOS anyway and keep you updated about the success.

ASUS supports bios upgrades to the most recent version on windows only. Yet, I don't believe that this is the problem, given that I (and laurii) experience the problem with a T450S thinkpad as well. Other ideas? Anyone?
