Sound card not detected (Ubuntu 7.10 beta)

Hi i would like to report a problem with my sound card. I have a Dell Latitude D630 running Ubuntu 7.10 beta. this is what i have done from previous comments on sound cards.
ran lshw and the output reports multimedia UNCLAIMED

and I've also after a reboot tried depmod -aAe and did not work
also loaded kernel snd_hda_intel and no sound card was detected reports back 0

can you help me??

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release.
