ncurses draw slowly after gutsy

Bug Description

After upgrade to Gutsy (kubuntu) the midnight commander is very slowly draw the panel
I use in kde konsole local and ssh to another host.

I switch to konsloe (crtl+alt+f1) I can't reproduce the problem.

If I start simple terminal (xterm) the mc is NOT slow

the default charset is utf-8
the konsole draw nice line (mc border) but very slow
when change the charset 8859-2 in konsole settings

the line is not line :-) but not slow

same here on my notebook with ati card and fglrx driver. another machine with nvidia card works fine.
anyway, removing xserver-xgl package fixed the issue in my case.
