Bug Description
One thing that has been constantly bugging me since I upgraded to Freya is the way the volume indicator is displayed when audio is muted. The only difference between muted speakers and speakers turned all the way up is brightness. While the difference is admittedly quite big, it's much less noticeable when you can't see the turned-up volume indicator for comparison. The other indicators aren't always useful for comparison, as they range in brightness and stroke width (esp. a neighboring "no wi-fi" icon is of no help).
The indicator is quite unsettling for me, particularly because of the embarrassment full-volume audio would cause in some situations. I'd welcome a crossed-out icon or an icon without the waves to represent muted audio.
