Bug Description
rhythmbox 2.98-0ubuntu3, libgpod4 0.8.2-7ubuntu1, Ubuntu R
1. Import an MP3 file into Rhythmbox, if there is not at least one already.
2. Connect a Mac-formatted iPod.
3. Drag an MP3 file, from the Rhythmbox library, onto the iPod icon in the sidebar.
What happens: Rhythmbox crashes.
rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in gst_encoding_
What should happen:
* the MP3 file is copied onto the iPod, OR
* you are prompted to reformat the iPod (in Windows format), then the previous contents of the iPod are restored, then the MP3 file is copied onto the iPod, OR
* (at the very least) an error message is displayed explaining that Rhythmbox can't change the contents of the iPod because it is Mac-formatted.
Though it wasn't mentioned in his column, this inability to copy songs to an iPod was one of the issues Walt Mossberg encountered when reviewing Ubuntu for the New York Times in September 2007.
