reproduce steps:
1.there is a CMCC SIM card inserted in the DUT device.
2.there is no contact in the device and the MMS group chat option was disabled
3.other device send one MMS just to the DUT
4.the DUT received the MMS
5.launch the message app check the received MMS

expect result:
(5) the MMS display in the dialog panel and show the the number of the sender and the word content
actual result:
the dialog panel of the message change to group chat auto.

I am seeing this also with Spanish operators when receiving a MMS from Ubuntu phone to Ubuntu phone: a chat group is automatically created.

MessageAdded from ofono shows only one recipient, but a group message is created:

This is the same behavior with Orange/Sosh in France. When I receive an MMS, one group is added automatically.

Can confirm this happens with Telstra (Australia), iPhone to Ubuntu.
