[usercallback] sys.argv[3] with undocumented values

Bug Description

The usercallback is described here:
http://backintime.le-web.org/documentation/usercallback/

When I understand it right the fourth argument (sys.argv[3]) can have values from 1 to 4 and specify the "reason" why the callback-script was called.

But I get sometimes values with '5' and '7' in there. I see no documentation about it. Please update your documentation about that.

Using BIT 1.1.6.

Please open a terminal and type 'man backintime'. There you'll find a section 'user-callback'.

I can not update the documentation in backintime.le-web.org as this is owned by Dan, the inventor of BIT, who left the project.

BIT will need a complete rewrite of the documentation which is shipped with it as it is completely outdated. But I'm no good in writing docus and I'm also not very enthusiastic about it.

So until there is a new docu you'll find all necessary information in that man-page.

Changed in backintime:
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Low

Thanks for the hint.
Aren't you in contact with the inventor to get access to the website? Did you tried?

btw: Please update your website infos in the "Help" menu in BIT. That still points to the old outdated "foreign" website, too.

Beside the technical aspects I think when someone take over a project or some one give over a project thinks like that (website access, etc) should be clear.

The current situation confuse to much users.

Sure I'm in contact with Dan. But le-web.org is Dan's private domain. So I can't take it over. Also I'm happy to contribute new code for BIT, but I'm not willing to run an own website which I have to pay for.

Put the documentation on Github, launchpad or whereever you can have free webspace. You don't need a TLD for that.
Ask Dan do delete the out-dated-documentation or put a big hint on the start-page about the out-date.

Please "beam" yourself into a new user/dev for that project and thing about how she/he would looking for informations.

Related to the "obsolete" website topic: some months ago I donated to the BIT project using the directions on Dan's website. I guess no part of any donation lands to Germar, does it?

No, it doesn't. But thats fine for me. I don't do this for money. Just for fun and to give something back to the whole Linux community. Dan already invested a lot more time than I and also money (for the website). So it is fine that he still get those donations.
