Request for "Dimension Table" Feature

This should be treated as a feature request or very low priority.

Currently Inkscape has a plugin to render Hershy text.

What I would like to propose is as follows -

A plugin or extension script that can render tabular data using Hershey text and lines, automatically, the data source for this table being an appropriate data source such as a spreadsheet RDBMS or GIS system.

The intent with this to allow for "Dimensioning Tables" to be added to certain techncial designs without needing to type the table data manually into Inkscape.

A temporary work-around is to export the table data from a program like Libre Office Calc (which has PDF export) and then use the PDF import function.

Longer term, a related feature request would be for some means of implementing "Data Aware" drawings, whereby styles and dimensions could be set-up (perhaps with scripting) where those details can be varied based on the contents of information in an RDBMS/GIS system. (As there is no common API for these there would need to be further disscussions on which systems would be most approproate for users.)
