Bug Description

I've installed the caffeine app from ppa:caffeine-developers/ppa.

Starting caffeine from slingshot won't work. Running from terminal displays:

<class 'Xlib.protocol.request.QueryExtension'>

and nothing more.

running caffeine-indicator though, works.

I confirm this. I've installed Caffeine through AppCenter. When I launch it, its icon appears on Plank for a couple of seconds and then... gone. Running via terminal outputs this:

>caffeine
/usr/bin/caffeine:25: PyGIWarning: Gtk was imported without specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Gtk', '3.0') before import to ensure that the right version gets loaded.
  from gi.repository import GObject, Gtk, GLib

and it stays there...

Sorry, caffeine-indicator works, indeed. Perhaps this should be the correct command for the icon in slingshot? Did you set it to run at startup? Does it work?

This looks like bug #1482844, so marking as a dupe. (The problem is with python3-xlib, which needs updating to a version with a fix.)
