Image viewer is provided by KIPI plugins and uses 3D/OpenGL infrastructure. Do you use compiz or similar?
Can you attach your Xorg.0.log?

No I don't use compiz or similar. My card can't even handle that (on board 2D). I even try to disable as much fancy stuff as possible.

I attach my xorg.conf and after that I try it again and will attach Xorg.0.log after (properly) a hard reboot.

I tried it again and the bug happened again (this is 100% reproducible) . I attach my Xorg.0.log after the hard-reboot.

Since your HW does not support 3D, OpenGL will be slugish at least, therefore making Image Viewer unusable. It probably make sense to submit bug upstream (bugs.kde.org) in order to at least more gracefully handle such case.
