Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I am using Gutsy Beta.

I click Places > Network and use the excellent GUI to get to a folder on my file server that I use all the time. Because I use it all the time, I would like to have a link to there on my desktop.

I middle-click-drag the SMB shared folder from the Network Browser in Nautilus over to my desktop and release. I select "Link Here". I get an error saying "Error "Unsupported operation" while creating a link to "smb://ubun...ed%20Files"."

I right-click the folder and select "Make Link". I get the same error: "Error "Unsupported operation" while creating a link to "smb://ubun...ed%20Files".

It would be *great* if this worked, but if it doesn't then these options need to be removed.

This happens to me also. I have done this in the past and placed the links on the desktop. Doesn't work now.

this is how it is done (ugly workaround):

right click desktop
create launcher -> type: location
name: gnomesux
fill in as much as you can and save
right click on "gnomesux" on the desktop. properties->link->url
type: smb://hostname/location/filename

you might want to fix the fugly icon it defaults to as well.

voila!
