Please can you explain how /etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback came to be deleted on your system? Is this something you did yourself, or if not, please can you provide steps that reproduce the deletion of /etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback by packaging?

I need mysql with version prior to 5.6, so I uninstalled all mysql packages and installed mysql-5.1.63-linux-x86_64-glibc23 from tgz , the system was ok (no kroken packages).

But it seems that during the update, the installation the installation of package mysql-common 5.6.24-0ubuntu2.1
