Bug Description

When I set my Motorola RAZR2 V8 to "memory device mode" (actually it should behave as a mass storage device), nothing happens. Probably some little tiny kind of connection is made because the phone gets charging and it shows a message saying "The USB connection was made. Don't unplug the USB cable during the file transfer...".

As I've found out on the Internet - there's some kind of problem with some kind of driver or something, so the mass storage with this (by the way Linux phone) doesn't work.

Here is the info I found on the Internet:

"patch to your linux kernel will do, you need to edit some files then recompile your linux.
and this is not the standard.
mine was also same case with you, but after i patched, i can connect then mounted it."

There was also a link included to some mail archive but it doesn't exist any more (404).

Well I understand that this doesn't really bother you at all but it bothers me so... I found out a few more details, hope they'll help.

I opened the hardware manager in Ubuntu (7.10, Gnome) and found out that the phone is recognized as a mass storage device, but it is not mounted like (for example) USB flash disk. Below follow all the information from the device manager...

The tree looks like this:

CK804 USB Controller
--v EHCI Host Controller
-----v MS
--------v USB Mass Storage Interface
-----------v SCSI Host Adapter
--------------v SCSI Device
------------------ SCSI Generic Interface
--------- USB Raw Device Access

I've also attached all the screenshots with all the info. I really hope now it's possible to do something about it. Thank you!

I can confirm the same problem, I've found a sorta work around. But its rather annoying and only works half the time...

Have you tried this under Hardy, and is it working?
