Copy to clipboard with formatting

Bug Description

I like this software a lot, since I started using it I have not used any other note writing SW.

Often there is a need to send my notes to someone else via email. Now I do the following:
- Export to HTML file
- open the exported HTML file
- copy the content from the opened HTML page
- paste the content to my email

If I copy to clipboard directly from RedNotebook, all formatting is lost and everything is copied only as plain text. It would be nice if there would be a feature to 'Copy as HTML' directly so that I could avoid the unnecessary 'export to a file' phase.

Cheers
Jani

The following steps work for me under Ubuntu 14.04:

- Change to Preview mode in RedNotebook
- Copy formatted text
- Paste it into LibreOffice Writer
- Text shows up formatted
- Pasting into Thunderbird also preserves the formatting

Which operating system are you using?

Hi, at work I need to use Windows 7, and there the same does not work for me. When I change to Preview mode in RedNotebook, and copy&paste content to MS Word or to Outlook, it is only copied as plain text, without formatting. Also, if I have inserted pictures to my journal, they are not copied.

Ah, ok. Then this is a limitation of the library that is used for the
preview under Windows. Unfortunately, it's quite hard to update the
library to a newer version. I hope to do something about that, but it'll
take a while.

Have you found any suitable libraries? One other nice-to-have feature in this export would be to export only the selection and not whole day. Sometimes I want to share only part of my meeting notes (one meeting during the day and not all meetings). Then it would be nice if one could select the text and then export only that.

To clarify: We don't need a different library, just a newer version of the webkitgtk library dll for Windows.

The feature you're describing should be part of RedNotebook already. Just select the text you want to export, go to Journal->Export and select the option "export selected text only".

About 'export selected text only', sorry this was my mistake. It was greyed out in View-mode so I missed it. But you are right it is there, very good.

About new version of the webkitgtk library to Windows, I'll wait.

One more thing came to my mind. If there are issues with the Copy-functionality and the current version of the used library, there is also another option or solving this. One could extend the Export-functionality so, that there would be 'Clipboard'-option available in addition to Plain Text/HTML/Latex/PDF.
