Bug Description

Binary package hint: k3b

I had installed K3b to my Gnome DE in 7.04 some months ago and upgraded to Gutsy beta using update manager. Now all the sudden in Gutsy Gnome I have a new menu called other and it contains 3 kcmshell settings.
Name: Input Actions, command: kcmshell khotkeys
Name: Keyboard, command: kcmshell keyboard
Name: Keyboard Layout, command: kcmshell keyboard_layout

The menu entries offer no clue to the fact that they are part of KDE unless you go and do research on them. Because there is no obvious KDE connection I think users will be confused and complain about why they are not not working seamlessly in Gnome or why they are not in System/Preferences.

Update, this is still happening for me. I have a 7.10 installed and not upgrade. January 19, 2008

I just did a fresh install of Gutsy beta onto my computer. After loging in for the first time and allowing update manager to do the updates and restarting the computer, I installed K3b and the other menu showed up. So this problem is also present for fresh installs.

Me too post (Gutsy upgraded from Feisty). Same menu entries with only k3b installed from KDE software pool.

Also happened to me after upgrade from Feisty to Gutsy. I installed k3b on feisty using Add/Remove, but then uninstalled it very soon after, also using Add/Remove.

Changed in k3b:
status: New → Confirmed
description: updated

This shouldn't be an issue in Ubuntu 8.10 and up, those KDE3 config modules are no longer around, and KDE4 ones won't show up in the Gnome menu at all.

Changed in k3b (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → Fix Released
