Bug Description

I'm not able to upgdate my system anymore due some errors similiar to those in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=352766 . I ran fsck, fixed lots of inodes, but I keep receiving this message:

(Reading database ...
dpkg: serious warning: files list file for package `myspell-pt' missing, assuming package has no files currently installed.
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/app-install-data-commercial_7.3_all.deb (--unpack):
unable to open files list file for package `vino': No such device or address
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/app-install-data-commercial_7.3_all.deb
Processing was halted because there were too many errors.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Fixed.

I downloaded vino_2.18.1-0ubuntu1_i386.deb, extracted the list of files with dpkg --contents, put the output in a file and replaced broken /var/lib/dpkg/info/vino.list file.

If anyone could explain why one broken file crashes the entire package management system, I would be glad to know. This error prevent me to install, upgrade or remove any package, from kernel-headers to scroobler.

If you could test the current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
