Bug Description

Usplash doesn't work on my Dell XPS M1330 Notebook with the 64Bit version of Kubuntu Gutsy. I'm just getting a black screen.
Usplash with the 32Bit version works fine.

Had to disable splash in /boot/grub/menu.lst to get some output on the screen.

Graphics card of the XPS M1330:
nVidia Corporation GeForce 8400M GS

Any suggestions?

i have the same hardware, and i've also experience the same problem. I use the safe recovery option and get's me around the issue. I've also checked the /etc/usplash.conf file, and manually corrected the resolution but that didn't help.

No news on this bug. It only happens with the 64Bit Version of Gutsy. It's not related to Kubuntu - Ubuntu has the same problems.

If you have any ideas or news please let me know :)

Just remove, the 'splash' at the kernel init line.
Edit the grub menu, with 'e' key and remove 'splash'.
