Bug Description

Sometimes, when I lock my computer, the whole system becomes unresponsive and all I have is a black screen. Not that my monitor shuts off, just a black screen. The only thing I can do to fix the problem is do a hard reset, and I am getting increasingly worried about file system corruption. Please fix this problem that occurs with the lock screen on elementary OS 0.3 Freya (64-bit).
Thanks.

EDIT:

Perhaps "lock" isn't the exactly proper term here; this problem happens when I close the lid of my laptop, i.e., when my system goes to sleep and then locks.

I have the same issue. I lock the screen, if I mediately move the mouse i get the lock screen and can type my password to login. If I leave for while and come back, just black screen with flickering line in top left corner. From today if I press super+l I mediately get black screen with flickering line and have to reboot. Alt+F1 flashes cli login and back to blck screen, then stuck again and have to reboot or hold alt+crtl+del for reboot.

Just want to add. Closing the lid on my laptop works fine it recovers or comes back every time without issues. Tested all day today.

Same problem here, although closing the laptop lid just results in the backlight regularly cycling with a black screen. No keyboard combination gets a response; hard drive light is flashing showing that the file transfer I started before locking the session is still active.
