Bug Description

I'm running Gutsy. My distro is up to date as of Sep 27. I'm able to consistently reproduce this by enabling "Normal desktop effects" and switching to Full Screen and back in vmware server with Windows XP running on it. The only way to come out of it is to press Alt + SysRq + k.

System specs:
Dell D620 2.33 GHz Dual Core, 4 GB RAM, nvidia Quadro NVS 110M (1280x800), using nvidia-glx-new driver. Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks.

Is vmware using a different screen resolution? Does disabling Sync to VBlank fix the problem? You can disable that by installing compizconfig-settings-manager and then going to General Options, Display Settings tab.

Yes, vmware is using 1024x768 and my system default resolution is 1600x1200 (I use an external Dell 2007FP monitor, default resolution on my laptop is 1280x800). I will try disabling "Disable sync to vblank" option and let you know.

That seem to fix it. I disabled "Sync to vblank" option and I could not reproduce this issue anymore.
