Bug Description

Ubuntu Gutsy beta
Ubuntu Intrepid daily live CD, 2008-09-01

1. Try to open an MP3 file.
2. In the "Search for suitable codec?" alert, click "Cancel".
Or:
1. Try to open an MP3 file.
2. In the "Search for suitable codec?" alert, click "Search".
3. In the "Install multimedia codecs" window, click "Cancel".

What happens: "An error occurred - The playback of this movie requires a MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder plugin which is not installed."

What should happen: No such error should appear. I already know the file is not going to play, because I'm the one who clicked the Cancel button.

I can confirm that this is what happens on Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5, although I won't be surprised if the developers mark this as won't fix.

I just opened a .vob file in totem and it gave me the error to install gstream...-ugly and -bad so I cancelled the dialog and no error message was presented to me. I am using Natty Narwal though the totem version in Ubuntu-10.10 and Natty are the same so we can assume this bug is fixed.
