Bug Description

Ubuntu Mate 15.04 i386 / Lenovo ideapad S10-2 / Broadcom 4312

After install simple login and take a look at available wlans in the area. You will see all between 1 and 10, but none in the 11-13 range. It's also not possible to connect them as hidden network.

In physical this machine was shipped with windows and it can use full range in Europe / Germany

Under ubuntu we see:

eric@selene:~$ iwlist chan
wlan0 32 channels in total; available frequencies :
          Channel 01 : 2.412 GHz
          Channel 02 : 2.417 GHz
          Channel 03 : 2.422 GHz
          Channel 04 : 2.427 GHz
          Channel 05 : 2.432 GHz
          Channel 06 : 2.437 GHz
          Channel 07 : 2.442 GHz
          Channel 08 : 2.447 GHz
          Channel 09 : 2.452 GHz
          Channel 10 : 2.457 GHz
          Channel 11 : 2.462 GHz
          Channel 12 : 2.467 GHz
          Channel 13 : 2.472 GHz

Full range but network-manager is in denial of that.

eric@selene:~$ iw reg get

Workaround: Take care that the firmware installers are on the machine and the b43, mac80211, bcma driver set is seen in lsmod. Take care that the regdomain DE is set in /etc/default/crda

# legislature. See `/usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab' for a table of timezone
# descriptions containing ISO/IEC 3166-1 alpha2 country codes.
REGDOMAIN=DE

Do a: sudo iw reg set DE

Don't forget a full reboot to get this settings to work, check after reboot for this:
eric@selene:~$ dmesg | grep b43
[ 6.682946] b43-phy0: Broadcom 4312 WLAN found (core revision 15)
[ 6.736123] b43-phy0: Found PHY: Analog 6, Type 5 (LP), Revision 1
[ 6.736150] b43-phy0: Found Radio: Manuf 0x17F, ID 0x2062, Revision 2, Version 0
[ 10.512143] b43-phy0: Loading firmware version 666.2 (2011-02-23 01:15:07)

This combination will work with full channel range.
