Bug Description

My system clock on Xubuntu 15.10 was manually setup. It did show the correct time. I believed ntp was generally in charge of managing the time clock. After righ-clicking the time clock on the lxpanel, clicking properties, and clicking "time and date settings", I notice my clock was set on manual.

Once I click the "configuration" option, I was given to possibilities, manual or synchronize with ntp. I selected ntp. The clock prompted that ntp support needed to be install. The package needed was "libopts25". Once selected and the installation executed, the reported that ntp server could not be found. The system was still installing the package as viewed in the details window. Installation completed and I was given the option to use ntp.

After selection ntp and restarting the computer, my system time clock was not set to the current time. To access the Internet, my home router requires one to login from its web-portal. I am not sure if this is causing the issue.

I viewed the dpkg.log file and noticed that the package "libopts25" was only half installed.

As a non-LTS release, 15.10 has a 9-month month support cycle and, as such, the support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 15.10 will reach end of life on Thursday, July 28th. At that time, Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 15.10.
