Bug Description

In 8.35 it's not necessary to disable jit support on ppc64el. I sent a patch on debian :

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=786530

I can send a debdiff on Ubuntu, is it needed ?

Thanks for reporting. I have attached a bug watch for the Debian bug.

I can't really answer this question, but I'd give it some time. If it takes a while before it is picked up by Debian, it might be easier to create a debdiff for Ubuntu as well.

Ideally, new package versions are synced from Debian to Ubuntu, so Ubuntu doesn't need to carry any changes. Though in this case, I see that there's already an Ubuntu-delta for this package, so a newer version in Debian would require a manual merge.

As the bug watch notfied, this issue has been fixed in Debian. However, since the Ubuntu package has some additional patches, the new version isn't synced automatically. If someone's up for it, it should be possible to merge the latest Debian package and apply the Ubuntu patches on top to get it into Ubuntu Wily. The Ubuntu patches among others contains some symbols though, and I don't know how straight-forward those are to deal with. For more information on (and how to) merging, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Merging.

Should be fixed in the latest upload (which is waiting in a review queue at the minute). Thanks!

Should be fixed in 2:8.35-7ubuntu1 which is available in Ubuntu Wily. I don't have any hardware to verify this, but according to the changelog JUT should be re-enabled on ppc64el now.
