Bug Description

Today's upgrade from the -16 to the -18 kernel completely disables wireless on my 15.04 ubuntu install on a macbook air 2013. Reverting to the -16 kernel fixes the issue.

Adding a bcmwl task since you're using the proprietary wl driver.

I did a quick check of the dkms build for bcmwl-kernel-source against 3.19.0-18 and it seems to build and load. I don't actually have a machine using a wireless card with supported hardware to do any testing beyond this.

All the logs here are taken with the -16 kernel, so there's really nothing more here to look at to tell what might be going wrong. The best thing would be if you could boot to the -18 kernel and run 'apport-collect 1457672' while connected to the internet via a wired connection. Otherwise I'd suggest starting by seeing if the wl module is loaded (lsmod | grep -w wl). If it isn't loaded then try loading it (sudo modprobe wl). If that fails then it probably means the module failed to build for some reason; there may be some errors in the log files under /var/lib/dkms/bcmwl which describe what happened.

The make.log for -18 is exactly the same as the one for -16.

In /var/lib/dkms/bcmwl/6.30.223.248+bdcom/ a module for -18 has been build.

However, this symlink is missing:

  kernel-3.19.0-18-generic-x86_64 -> 6.30.223.248+bdcom/3.19.0-18-generic/x86_64/
