kdbg cannot start on Linux Mint 17.1

Bug Description
kdbg can not start on LM 17.1. Instead of showing the application GUI it endlessly prints the message
MNG error 11: Function is invalid at this point; chunk MHDR; subcode 0:0
until the user must kill the process with control-C
The problem is reproducible and it occurs in no special cases, just invoking the application is enough to see it happen
