Evolution does not send Emails with an Attachment

Ubuntu 15.04
Evolution 3.12.11

can send emails without attachments BUT cannot send emails with attachments not even a small attachment.

on sending the dialog is:-
SMTP greeting > 6% complete >complete
the email is shown in my sent folder BUT is is actually not sent.

what is to be done. Thank you
