I have same situation with ubuntu server 14.04.2, kernel 3.13.0-32-generic, nfs-kernel-server 1:1.2.8-6ubuntu1
As workarround for me, I disable --manage-gids option. I not have a users more than 16 groups.
I use nfs-clients on RHEL 6.4.
