This bug results in KDE crashing on login. This results in KDE being completely nonfunctional, we are left with a blank screen. Any help is appreciated.

With every login to Plasma, we get a plasma crash. Then KDE session does not continue, we are left with an empty screen. Thus KDE is completely non-functional and broken. Any help is appreciated.

This appears to be a package dependancy problem because installing kio, plasma-desktop and plasma-desktop-data fixed this

I have the same problem, but with 16.04, since I have installed kubuntu May 2017 to discover it on a USB key in multiboot UEFI, by side of ubuntu, while another ubuntu is also on my hard disk (all this is working fine). I did not try with kubuntu on my hard disk (I ask me why it happens nearly only to me).

To avoid crash while entering my password I must click the mouse pointer into the password zone before typing any character, though the blinking vertical bar is already present in that zone. If I do so, there is no problem.
If I don't, kubuntu crashes everytime on login, between the first and the second character.
kubuntu has just the time to show the asterisk relative to this first character.
And then happens what is described above, in the Bug Description.
I have searched in the known bugs, and this is the nearest, perhaps the same, perhaps not.
As written above, any help will be appreciated.
However, causing systematic crash, this is really a bug, that should be fixed (mouse management initialization?).
