Gabriel Zhi Chen, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-w-series-laptops/thinkpad-w550s an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.07). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

are from the kernel warning about the temperature too high and start the CPU clock throttled which caught by fwts.
this should not be any software issues. Might the HW or cooling issue of the machine.

klog: HIGH Kernel message: [ 7.944886] ACPI Warning: \_SB_.PCI0.PEG_.VID_._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch - Found [Buffer], ACPI requires [Package] (20140424/nsarguments-95)

for _DSM failure, kernel compliant about the mismatch of _DSM method(Device Specific Method)
From ACPI spec,
This optional object is a control method that enables devices to provide device specific control
functions that are consumed by the device driver.
Arguments: (4)
Arg0 – A Buffer containing a UUID
Arg1 – An Integer containing the Revision ID
Arg2 – An Integer containing the Function Index
Arg3 – A Package that contains function-specific arguments

the #4 Arg (i.e Arg3 is defined as a Package) , but seems the graphic driver bright an Buffer to it.
This has often been seen on the graphic driver, since the _DSM is device specific method.
This shouldnot be a problem if the graphic function is fine.
