Bug Description

After upgrading from 14.10 to 15.04, I found that the system was going to sleep every 30 seconds. This behavior does not manifest once I log into the graphical desktop (Lubuntu), but if I switch over to a virtual console, it manifests again.

A temporary fix has been to make /sys/power/state non-writable.

At first, I believed the problem was with systemd, but the problem continues after switching to upstart.

I believe the problem is in the dbus package, because I see this every 30 seconds in /var/log/syslog, coinciding with the laptop going to sleep:

My case is if after fresh booting up I put my laptop to the sleep mode and then wake it up, it keeps entering the sleep mode again and again every ~30 seconds. I'm running clean ubuntu 15.04.

I'm having the exact same problem after upgrading from ubuntu-gnome 14.10 on an older HP Pavillion DV1000 laptop. Got a bit too frustrated with it all so I re-installed 14.10 again (so not much use I'm afraid for logs, etc... but maybe the hardware I'm running helps, who knows)...

Better solution from a user at Ask Ubuntu: set "HandleLidSwitch=ignore" in /etc/systemd/logind.conf.

This solves the problem completely.
