Bug Description

The version provided:
$ apt-cache policy volumeicon-alsa
volumeicon-alsa:
  Installé : 0.4.6-2.2
  Candidat : 0.4.6-2.2
 Table de version :
 *** 0.4.6-2.2 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
$

It has not been updated for 3 years.

The latest version of volumeicon is Volumeicon 0.5.1
http://softwarebakery.com/maato/volumeicon.html

Here is the source package:
http://softwarebakery.com/maato/files/volumeicon/volumeicon-0.5.1.tar.gz

I compiled it by hand in 15.04, it works fine. (Used "./configure ; make ; sudo make install" - the README states about an autogen.sh file which isn't any longer in the sources).

Thanks for an update!

* volumeicon is the original name, not volumeicon-alsa. It allows starting alsa mixers from the systray, true, and also pulseaudio mixers

As mentioned by the Debian report, a newer version has now been packaged, and this (0.5.1+git20170117-1) has now been synced to Ubuntu Artful. I'm therefore marking this as fixed. :)

If you need a newer version of this package in previous versions of Ubuntu, please follow the instructions for "Requesting a Backport" at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports#Requesting_a_Backport.
