Bug Description

Hi,
at first, English isn't my first language, so I try to explain my problem properly.
I have elementary OS Freya installed on a HP Elitebook 8440p with the following specifications:

Processor: Intel Core i5 M540 @ 2.53GHz
RAM: 8GiB
Graphics: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
SSD: Samsung Evo 840 120GB

External screen is connected via Displayport to HDMI adatper.

I have the notebook attached to a "HP Port Replicator / Dockingstation HSTNN-i11X" with a 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM attached. If I start the notebook while its connected to said dockingstation I get a weird resolution bug on my Samsung screen and the screen of the laptop. It looks like the resolution is only about 800x600 but if I look in the settings there is displayed 1920x1080 for the Samsung screen and 1600x900 for the notebook monitor. That means all the UI is too big for both of the screens. Also if I start up the notebook with only the Samsung screen attached, this problem happens.
The display is recognized as a 7" screen by the system.

This bug doesn't occur when I boot the laptop unattached from the dockingstation and use it as a simple notebook and also doesn't occur if I boot it unattached and connect it to the dockingstation after logging in.
My display is still recognized as a 7" screen but the UI is scaled like normal for a 24" screen.

I have found a workaround to solve the problem which is propably caused by a bug in Gnome-3.

Here is command to execute in terminal as ordinary user (not root):

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor 1
This command should immediately set some display elements to correct scaling, but to apply change for whole desktop you will have to logout and login. Set key can be read back with “get” option:

gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor

}
