Google 2 step authentication not supported?

Bug Description

I can add my Google account successfully, but no events from it show up in Maya and I am not asked to process the 2nd authentication step.

Not THE solution, but it works as (hopefully temporary) work-around:

Create app specific passwords
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/1173270?hl=en
https://security.google.com/settings/security/apppasswords

This method also works for Geary.
