Bug Description
if I use the file browser to locate images and then open them using the gallery app, it appears a copy of the image is created in my home directory. This copy then remains after tje gallery is closed, if the same process is carried out another copy appears, the file needs to be manually removed.

This is not a gallery bug, it's a FileManager issue. FileManager currently requests gallery to import the photo, not just view it. It should be fixed to view it instead of import.
