Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Sorry, this is more of a suggestion than a bug but I believe it warrants an entry here.
OOo could easily detect if the current save directory is /tmp in Linux, or its equivalent dirs in Mac or Win, and ask user to reconfirm that he wants to save to this directory.

Situation: User downloads & opens a form document in Firefox, choosing "Open with application" instead of saving the file first. User fills out the form and saves it for later use, forgetting that it will save to /tmp which is periodically purged. Later he looks for the file but it has been deleted.

OOo could prevent this easily by checking, when a user chooses the Save option, whether the current directory matches /tmp or some relevant pattern. If so, a dialog appears alerting the user that this is the case, and offering to save the file in another directory. Option provided to never show the dialog box again for advanced users.
