Bug Description

The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding unity. This problem was most recently seen with version 1:0.9.12+14.10.20140918-0ubuntu1, the problem page at https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/837d49e0b8b7b4506fbece742354392d42761102 contains more details.

Not sure why this is happening but the crash is due the scale plugin being loaded after unityshell one. To fix this issue please look at bug 1497163. There is a step by step guide how to fix the problem.

Same problem here on 16.04. The issue started just recently - there was a compiz upgrade this morning which seemed to introduce the problem for me. I never used ccsm before on this installation. The above workaround did work for me, though.
