14.04.03 is using 3.19 kernel but 14.04 is based on 3.13 kernel, so this is not a duplicate of bug #1439327.

Brian, just want to confirm, earlier today, you mentioned that the Vivid release is frozen. If so, then we may have to go with the driver you have. We have been working with the Upstream kernel maintainers to get some of our recent patches pulled into their tree. If there is a chance, we would probably ask the team to pull in a few more patches for consideration for this driver candidate for your Vivid kernel release.

Thanks,
Walt

Hi Walt,

Yes, Vivid kernel is now frozen. But, we can accept bug fixes, which can be applied to Vivid, if urgent, or done through our SRU process, once Vivid has released.

Please let me know if you have more questions about that.

Did you get the 10.5.0.0 patch set from James Bottomley's scsci-misc list or is the driver still at 10.4.8000.0?

@bala,

The two bugs have essentially the same title and read as you want the lpfc driver updated for 14.04.3. The 14.04.3 release will use the lts-vivid kernel as the default. Are you trying to update the lpfc driver in the lts-vivid kernel or in the trusty kernel?

I had a conversation with Bala's team this week.

They were asking to see if we could backport this to 3.13, which the bug #1439327 represented.

I explained that the typical hardware enablement model is to ask customer to move up to a current release (Vivid / 14.04.3) if they want this new functionality from Emulex. I also explained that we weren't opting to backport at this time.

The current decision is that they will suggest this to their customers, as the default model for Ubuntu.
