I am running Ubuntu 15.10. I used the Software Center to try to install wine. Software Center was about 60% thru when it hung. I had something else to do so I left it running for about 1 hour and there was not progress. Network traffic was virtually zero and processor load low. Firefox worked fine so I don’t think there was a network issue. I rebooted and was trying to un-install Wine when it crashed and this bug report was created.

In my case, the issue occurs on a 15 days Xubuntu 15.10 (64 bits) installation, just after having installed Wine (1.6.2) by: "sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine" (http://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu). I thought this would install Wine v1.8.0 stable.
