Bug Description

CID: 201404-14997 Dell Vostro 3546

Sometimes the clickpad on this system does not work as expected.
It will stop responding to any movments, the only way to move the cursor is click on the touchpad and drag (just like selecting multiple files)
I'm not sure what event could trigger this issue, but I do see this twice on this system (and on 201404-14998, another Vostro 3546)
One is right after the whole testing process, another is after being suspended for two days.

I tried to run the 30 cycle suspend / hibernate and the cpu stress test, but it seems that these are not the trigger.

Po-Hsu Lin / Anthony Wong, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/vostro-3546-laptop/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A05). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.
