Bug Description
Gedit takes several seconds to save a simple text file. I would expect the save to be executed almost instantaneously, since it's a process that requires next to no computational work, and disk writes of a few kB shouldn't take more than a few milliseconds. The lag creates problems when iterating and rerunning code, such as a python script, quickly.

Thank you for your bug report. Could you give details on the version of Ubuntu you are doing and on your machine? Saving doesn't seem to be slow here...
