Bug Description

Hi,
I have Lenovo G510 With Atheros device.

Nature of peoblem :
Bluetooth not wotrking under Ubuntu 14.10 but wifi working fine.

Device:
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0cf3:3004 Atheros Communications, Inc.
  bDeviceClass 224 Wireless
  bDeviceSubClass 1 Radio Frequency
  bDeviceProtocol 1 Bluetooth
  idVendor 0x0cf3 Atheros Communications, Inc.
  idProduct 0x3004

Kernel: Ubuntu 3.16.0-32.42-generic 3.16.7-ckt7 Utopic.

At first I've found these lines in dmesg:
Bluetooth: Error in firmware loading
Bluetooth: Error in firmware loading err = -110

But after I tried some of the solutions online I no longer see these errors (but the bluetooth still doesn't work)

Thanks!

Might have been fixed in the next kernel update 3.16.0-32.42?

As you can see I am running kernel 3.16.0-32.42 And it's still not working.

But it can be related to the fact I've tried some of these solutions:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2222899
http://askubuntu.com/questions/591669/bluetooth-error-in-firmware-loading-in-ubuntu-14-04
(and now I can't see the error message in dmesg)

Try the kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.19.1-vivid/ as the changelog indicates Adam Lee's commit was included

Kernel 3.19.1 appears to fix the firmware loading issue with ath3k. I have done 6 power cycles on my Lenovo with no firmware errors without the hacks from the askubuntu post linked in comment 5

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2015-February/054314.html seems to be the fix

I just installed 3.19.1 kernel and the Bluetooth works.
What should I do now? Use this kernel until Vivid is out? or upgrade to vivid right now?

Thanks.

(Or I can somehow monitor the Utopic branch and see when they'll add this commit to Utopic kernel)

Boot into the 3.16.0-32 kernel and collect the logs now that ath3k is no longer blacklisted. I just tried 3.16.0-32 and it failed

I saw that also and gave the 3.16.0-32 a few more tries and it hasn't failed since the first try and that has been 4 power cycles ago.
Hopefully it works for elichai2

Ok, Just rebooted back to 3.16.0-32 and it's working. I hope it won't stop working.
Thank you.
(i'll change the status to fix released unless it'll stop working)
