In PCManFM Places - Applications 'Icon View' produces no icons just text

Bug Description

Using PCManFM to go to Places/Applications in 'Icon View' produces blank icons but just text description for each of the items:

Accessories
Debian
Graphics
Internet
Multimedia
System

Same results if View switched to Thumbnail View.

Clicking through Places/Applications (path shows "menu://applications/") items appear with non-visible icons but with visible text for Accessories, Debian, Graphics, Internet, System...moving mouse pointer above the text provides evidence that icon images are present and can be clicked on, but the icons are not visible.
