Bug Description
I observed the following on my trusty machine.
$ service saned status
/etc/init.d/saned: 73: [: =: unexpected operator
saned is not running, but pidfile existed.
rm: remove write-protected regular file ‘/var/run/
$ sudo service saned status
saned is running.
In other words, the status call fails unless done from root.

verified on vivid, too, although sometimes the command seems to succeed.
