gedit crashed with signal 5 in _XReply()

Bug Description

Before Gedit crashed the machine appeared to be far busier than it should have been considering what I was doing (browsing one web page and editing a text file).

Note that Gedit was set to stay on top and moving the mouse cursor over it caused the pointer to disappear.
