Bug Description
My OS: Linux Mint Version 17.1, Rebecca
Package: Unipro UGENE
Version: 1.9.8+repack-
Description:
executing the command "Query NCBI Blast Database" returns the following error message:
[ERROR][hh:mm] Task {RemoteBLASTTask} finished with error: Empty response
Note: [hh:mm] is a time stamp in the log file.
Steps to repeat:
1. Right click on a desired sequence annotation, and navigate through the context menus
2. Apply the command "Query NCBI Blast Database"
Problem Happens always.
Possible Solution:
This was a known bug in 2014 that was fixed in newer versions of the software:

The most recent version of UGENE is 1.15; the version packaged for Ubuntu is 1.9.8.
Upgrading the Ugene package would most likely resolve this issue.

This is fixed in the most recent version of ugene. I was able to execute a BLAST query using the precompiled binary provided by the unipro team (ugene.unipro.ru, version 1.16).
