Bug Description

I just upgraded Ubuntu from 12.04 to 14.04 to 14.10. After the first update the system launched Unity and everything was fine (when the updater asked me about configuration of something I always clicked "Replace"). After the second update I could log in, but there was only the wallpaper and some icons displayed. There is no top menu bar or the Launcher. The only way for me to run an application is to press Ctrl+Alt+F1 and type "export:DISPLAY=:0" and then "chromium-browser" for example. The applications are missing the decorations and I can't use any keyboard shortcuts.

Just wanted to update that launching the Gnome seems like a workaround, because it works fine.
