Bug Description

The "alpha6" release is many years old (it was released 2011), and has not been supported for a long time. No modern day assets are usable in this release. MakeHuman has since had several stable releases and even changed the source code language.

In order to help transitioning to a post-jurassic version, I have now updated https://launchpad.net/makehuman with current code, as well as built functional sample debs, which are available in the same location. These debs works as intended for me, on 14.04.

Thus requesting a version bump to the code which is available at the above.

No compiling is needed (MakeHuman is now pure python), so making debs largely consists of putting files in the correct place in the file system hierarchy.

I am the official build maintainer for MakeHuman, and requests for more information or other support concerning the above can be sent to me.

What is the status on this?
Is the update still planned for Vivid?
It would be great to hear from Ubuntu packagers about this, eg feedback on the packages at https://launchpad.net/makehuman

Is there any way in which the MakeHuman developers can help speed up the process?

Thanks.

Relevant debian bugs concerning the version currently in the repo, demonstrating the need to do something about the current state of affairs:

I have started to recommend that the package be removed altogether if it can't be version bumped. No package at all is vastly much better than a four year old alpha.
