Took a very long time to come of lxc instalation which I tried to do via 'apt-get install lxc'. Finally it failed.

That sounds like a bigger problem than lxc. I don't see anything in the syslog pointing to a kernel fault though.
Have you seen any more problems (related to lxc or otherwise) since that?
