Bug Description
I downloaded and successfully used Inkscape 0.91 on my OS X 10.10.2 MacBook Pro no problem when just using the MacBook Pro's screen.
When I connect a second display (27" Thunderbolt) and the computer extends the desktop, the open Inkscape windows have disappeared. I know they are still there because I can right click on the application icon and select them or select "Show all Windows" but they do not appear on the screen.
To further verify the issue I minimized the windows on the MacBook Pro first so they are in the task bar, then connected the second display, and then tried to maximize them. Usually in OS X they 'zoom out' from the task bar thumbnail to a full window. Instead of that they seemed to zoom out to the top left very fast but kept going in a north westerly direction and 'flew off' the top left of the second display. I have not found a way to minimize them or bring them back within viewable range.
Perhaps Inkscape (or X11) is confused as to the size of my usable desktop when I have a secondary display connected.
Screenshots attached showing the apps in the task bar and the windows I can't actually see.
Thank you for filing this report - it's a known upstream issue in XQuartz (XQuartz conflicts with Apple's changes of how screens and spaces interact on Mavericks and later versions of OS X), and already tracked in /bugs.launchpad .net/inkscape/ +bug/1244397
- Bug #1244397 “XQuartz on OS X 10.9 and later: limited support for multi-monitor setups.”
